EON is Phonak's new family of hearing aids. It has three models and a new chip. Using the information Phonak provides, we explain what's new, how long the battery lasts, how it connects to your phone and TV, and who it is designed for. First, one important point: the right hearing aid depends on each person's hearing, and not every model suits everyone.
1. What Phonak EON is and which models it includes
EON is Phonak's new family of hearing aids. According to Phonak, it was launched on 24 August 2026 in Stäfa, Switzerland. There are three models:
| Model | Hearing loss it is designed for, according to Phonak | Levels |
|---|---|---|
| Audéo EON Sphere | Mild to profound | E90, E70 and E50 |
| Audéo EON R | Mild to profound | E90, E70, E50 and E30 |
| CROS EON R | Hearing loss in one ear only, when a hearing aid is not an option for that ear | Only used together with an Audéo EON R |
Both Audéo models are rechargeable RIC hearing aids. A RIC sits behind the ear. A thin wire carries the sound to a small speaker, called the receiver, which sits inside the ear.
What the levels mean. Each model comes in several technology levels: E90 (Premium), E70 (Advanced), E50 (Standard) and, on the Audéo EON R only, E30 (Essential). According to Phonak, the level determines which features the hearing aid has. For example, StereoZoom 2.0 and Dynamic Noise Cancellation, two features for noisy situations, are only available on the E90 and E70.
Colours. According to Phonak, there are 8: Sienna red, sand beige, sandalwood, chestnut, champagne, silver grey, graphite grey and velvet black.

In Phonak's technical documents you will see other names: Audéo E-Sphere, Audéo E-R and CROS E-R. They are the same devices.
2. What has changed from the previous generation
A new chip. According to Phonak, EON runs on a new chip called HYPERSONIC. The brand describes it as a processor dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI), working in real time with low power consumption. According to Phonak Spain, the Bluetooth connection is handled by a separate chip, called ERA.
Version 3.0 of Spheric Speech Clarity. According to Phonak, this is the feature the hearing aid uses to separate speech from background noise in real time. Phonak presents the EON Sphere as its third generation of hearing aids with real-time AI. The two before it were the Audéo Sphere Infinio (2024) and the Infinio Ultra (2025).
- According to Phonak, version 3.0 is only found on the Audéo EON Sphere, at all three levels. The Audéo EON R does not have it.
- One detail from Phonak's product information: on the E50 level, the programme for loud noise that uses this feature does not switch on by itself. It has to be selected manually.
What's new is lower power use, not more speech separation. According to Phonak's technical measurements, version 3.0 separates speech from noise to the same degree as versions 1.0 and 2.0. What changes is power consumption. According to Phonak, with this feature running, the EON Sphere is 37% more efficient than the Infinio Ultra running version 2.0.
Smaller and lighter. According to Phonak, the Audéo EON Sphere is 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous Sphere generation. According to Phonak, it is also the first time a Sphere has fitted into the small format the brand calls ‘RIC R’.
Phonak's product information gives these figures, which apply to both the EON Sphere and the EON R:
- Size: 28.7 x 12.6 x 8.9 mm (length, width and depth).
- Weight: 2.4 g.
- IP68 protection against water and dust. In the IEC 60529 standard test, it withstood 60 minutes submerged at a depth of 1 metre in fresh water and 8 hours in a dust chamber. This is a laboratory test.
Noise and wind. According to Phonak, AutoSense OS AI 8.0, the system that automatically adjusts the hearing aid to its surroundings, now keeps the noise features switched on for longer when it is noisy. Both models have it. In addition, the WindBlock 2.0 feature automatically reduces wind noise: by up to 50 dB, according to Phonak. It is available at all levels.
Earwax. According to Phonak, EasyGuard domes (the tips that fit on the end of the receiver) have a sealed design that stops wax getting into the receiver. They are not available for every receiver.
3. Connectivity: phone and television
According to Phonak, EON connects via Bluetooth to virtually any mobile phone, whatever the brand or model. Phonak calls this ‘Made-For-All’.
- Calls and phone audio. According to Phonak, calls, music and videos from your phone go straight to your hearing aids via Bluetooth.
- Two devices at once. According to Phonak, it supports two active connections at the same time, for example your phone and a tablet.
- With a tap. According to Phonak, tapping the hearing aid lets you answer or end a call, pause or resume listening, and activate Siri or Google Assistant. This is available at all levels.
- Television. According to Phonak, it works with the TV Connector, Phonak's accessory for the television.
- Other accessories. According to Phonak, it also works with the PartnerMic microphone, the RemoteControl, Roger microphones and the myPhonak app.
What Auracast is. It is a Bluetooth system for broadcasting sound in public places, such as cinemas, museums or gyms. It works wherever the venue broadcasts its sound using Auracast. According to Phonak, to listen through your hearing aids you scan a QR code with the myPhonak app. Phonak adds that on Android phones you can also use the phone's own Auracast assistant.
If your phone or TV matters to you, let us know at your appointment and we will take it into account.
Free hearing test. We set aside between an hour and an hour and a half for the first appointment. It is painless, there is no obligation, and at the end we explain the results.
About the hearing test4. Battery and charger
Both Audéo EON models are rechargeable, with a built-in battery. According to Phonak, the maximum battery life is:
| Model | Maximum battery life, according to Phonak |
|---|---|
| Audéo EON Sphere | Up to 38 hours |
| Audéo EON R | Up to 38 hours |
| CROS EON R | Up to 20 hours |
‘Up to’ means at most. According to Phonak's datasheet, the expected operating time of the EON Sphere is 22 hours, and the maximum is 38. Phonak gives an example: with 8 hours of streaming (listening to sound from your phone or TV through your hearing aids) and 3 hours in very loud noise, the EON Sphere lasts 22 hours.
According to Phonak, actual battery life depends on the age of the battery, the hearing loss, the surroundings, streaming and which features are switched on.
For comparison. Phonak Spain's page for the Audéo Infinio (Ultra) Sphere, the previous model, advertises up to 56 hours, also as a maximum. The EON Sphere is smaller, but advertises fewer hours of battery life.
Charging time from empty, according to Phonak:
- 1 hour: up to 55%.
- 2 hours: up to 90%.
- 2 and a half hours: fully charged.
Two new chargers. According to Phonak:
- Phonak Charger RIC EON: a desktop charger, plugged in with a cable.
- Phonak ChargerGo RIC I EON: a portable charger with its own battery, for up to 3 full charges.
According to Phonak, both chargers work with all three EON models.
5. What type of hearing loss it is designed for
According to Phonak, the Audéo EON Sphere and the Audéo EON R are designed for mild to profound hearing loss.
According to Phonak's product information, there are five receivers, the part that sits inside the ear. Each one covers a different range:
| Receiver | Hearing loss it is designed for, according to Phonak |
|---|---|
| S | Mild to moderately severe |
| M, MAV and P | Mild to severe |
| UP | Moderate to profound |
The CROS EON R is something different. In general, a CROS system picks up sound on the side that cannot hear and passes it to the other ear. According to Phonak, the CROS EON R is designed for hearing loss in one ear only, when a hearing aid is not an option for that ear.
- According to Phonak, it only works together with an Audéo EON R. It cannot be paired with the EON Sphere.
- According to Phonak, it includes CROS Balance, for adjusting the volume between the two sides.
6. Is it right for me? What it depends on
You cannot tell from reading a guide. The right hearing aid depends on each person's hearing, and not every model suits everyone. What matters most:
- How you hear, in each ear. We check this with a full hearing test.
- Your ear: its shape, earwax, and how comfortable you are with something inside it.
- Your daily life: whether you spend a lot of time on the phone, watch TV, or go out to noisy places.
- Your hands and eyesight, for putting the device in, taking it out and charging it.
- The technology level: not every feature is available at every level.
A model being new does not mean it is the right one for you. Sometimes another model is a better fit, from Phonak or from another brand. If so, we will tell you.
7. How to try it with us
First, the hearing test. Choosing a hearing aid makes no sense without knowing how you hear. We set aside between an hour and an hour and a half for the first appointment. At the end, we explain the results. If you don't need a hearing aid, we will tell you.
Then, the trial. If the results point that way, we show you the options that suit you. We work with several brands, including Phonak. You try it before you decide.
What we already have at our centres. From the EON family, for now we can only fit the Audéo EON Sphere, in its E90, E70 and E50 levels. We do this in Moraira, Jávea and El Albir, always after the hearing test and if it is a good option for you.
